I support Caitlyn Jenner's right to be trans and a Republican

The Republican National Convention is in full swing this week. It's been drawing a lot of attention, but no one has outshined Caitlyn Jenner at the event. If you're confused about why Jenner would be a Republican, it seems you're not alone. She told the crowd outside the convention, “It was easy to come out as trans. It was hard to come out as Republican.”

Part of her was joking, but there's definitely truth behind what she was saying. Many people were shocked to see her show up to support Donald Trump - a guy who hasn't been kind to the LGBT community during his campaign.

More: Caitlyn Jenner may be the new face of the Republican party

Margaret Hoover, president of the American Unity Fund, talked to Jenner outside the Convention and asked if she was actually a “real Republican” despite being part of the LGBT community. Jenner said yes and that although she believes more Republicans need to know more trans people, she believes in what the party stands for.

Jenner said, "I feel like our best hope to get back to a constitutional government... is a Republican party... I'm not giving up on this country. I'm not giving up on this constitution. I want jobs for everybody."

When asked what she thinks Trump should know, she said, "I would tell Donald that there are people out there that have been marginalized for so many years... it's about the next generation coming up. We have to provide a safe environment for them."

While it's hard to believe that Jenner is backing Trump, her responses do prove that she's trying to do the best for the LGBT community while not compromising her personal beliefs. And truthfully, we need more of that nuanced talk when we all bring up politics. It's when we blindly support one side without thinking critically about what we want for America that we get into trouble.

Well, that and letting Trump get this far into the campaign process.

More: Why Caitlyn Jenner makes some feminists cringe

I applaud Jenner for speaking honestly about what she thinks and supports politically. She's definitely been through enough that she could have shied away from the topic and no one would blame her. No one can ever say she isn't brave.

Moderately reducing calories in non-obese people reduces inflammation

BOSTON - Eating less may help us lead longer, healthier lives, according to the new results from a large, multicenter study, led by researchers at the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University. The paper, published in Aging, reveals that restricting calories by 25 percent in healthy non-obese individuals over two years, while maintaining adequate protein, vitamin, and mineral intake, can significantly lower markers of chronic inflammation without negatively affecting other parts of the immune system.

Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green announced their split a little too soon

In great news for the Fox Austin Green clan, their publicists and their fans, Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green decided to move onwards and upwards and forget about that whole separation thing. According to People, they've called off their divorce and are prepping for baby No. 3.

As soon as the news broke that Fox was pregnant - and speculation ended over the daddy-to-be - the couple began spending time together again in public. They spent a much-photographed vacation together in Hawaii, and seemed very much the happy Hollywood couple. Now, insiders say they're giving the marriage a second shot.

"Brian and Megan are living together in Malibu with their boys," a source told People. "They have been getting along and seem very happy. They are just waiting for the baby to arrive."

More: Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green had a very modern marriage problem

They already have two children, Noah Shannon and Bodhi Ransom, and have been married for five years. "During their separation, Brian always hoped Megan would change her mind about the divorce and he is very happy that she did," the source says. "They both worked hard to figure out their marriage and things seem great."

Kudos to the couple for working through some very difficult issues with the added pressures of the paparazzi. Now, how to explain to their youngest child that their parents were about to be divorced when mom got pregnant?

10 trendy dog breeds to consider if you want to earn a spot on the cool list

I am not exactly what you might call fashion-forward. There was a brief, shining moment when flannel and hiking boots came into style and I passed undetected under the noses of the hipster fashion police - until they realized that there was legitimate dirt on my boots, hay on my shirt and a faint odor, not of natural essential oils and perfume, but of the barn. When it comes to dogs, however, I know what I'm talking about.

From the dog park to the street, from cafés to hardware stores, on TV and at the end of celebrity leashes, dogs are always in style. Some dogs, of course, are trendier than others. These are the dog breeds that consistently make their owners look stylish no matter where they go or what they're wearing.

1. Mutts

Mutts

Just kidding, mutts aren't a dog breed. They are, however, the No. 1 most-owned dog in the hippest parts of NYC, which means that if you really want to keep up with celebrities like John Hamm, you should probably adopt a mixed breed dog. Not only will this keep you in style, you will also be helping out a dog in need, which is definitely more important than your ego.

2. Schipperke

If you like feisty pups, then the schipperke could be the trendy dog breed for you. This little fox is adorable - however, he has earned his nickname as a "little black devil." Schipperkes love their families, but they can be a handful and require an owner who won't let this tiny pup walk all over them.

Designer dog breeds like Labradoodles are increasing in popularity, and if you have the money, it is easy to see why. Most Labradoodles don't shed, which makes these dogs an excellent choice for owners who want the energy and enthusiasm of a Lab without the shedding. A word of caution for potential Labradoodle owners, however, is that not all Labradoodles have the non-shedding coat of a poodle, so research your breeder carefully before making a commitment.

If you, unlike me, are already trendy, then you probably have possessions you are proud of, like that new iPhone. The best way to protect your trendy assets while also owning a trendy dog breed is to either sew a secret iPhone pocket into your Yorkie's sweater or adopt a German shepherd. These dogs are the second most popular breed in America, and while they will probably ruin your designer furniture and fancy clothes with their constantly shedding fur, you will be safe and loved no matter where you go. No one will dare try to steal your purse or break into your home with a GSD on duty.

What does "trendy" even mean?

Just because a dog breed is trendy does not mean it is the breed for you, and just because your dog's breed isn't on this list doesn't mean that they aren't actually the coolest dog on the planet. Trends come and go, but a dog's love never goes out of style.
