The anonymous picture, uploaded to Reddit this week by an unnamed user, which shows a wedding guest proposing to his girlfriend right in front of the bride and groom at their reception has been met with outrage and ridicule online.

Admittedly, it is a selfish act to decide to use someone else's emotionally charged day to do your own big, emotionally charged event. That said, the attitude that is so pervasive in our culture about the bride being a "princess" for a day is equally annoying.

Yes, it is her day. But how does it really hurt her to have some friends be happy, too? The proposal probably took 10 minutes away, so playing devil's advocate, who cares? Weddings have been ruined over a lot worse things than love.
Granted, I am not sure I'd be thrilled if someone chose my wedding day for that. But there is also no law that says the bride gets nonstop fawning and attention and no one else is allowed to be happy. Personally, I think this is sweet. It honors marriage and what they have just witnessed. And certainly the woman can't be blamed. She likely had no idea.

The internet needs to take a collective chill pill. All I see on the bride's face is happiness. Another wedding! Where is the harm in that?
